[InKunming--Kunming] The second day of the second month of lunar calendar is the traditional Flower Festival. About 1,500 people wearing traditional Han Chinese clothing came to Jindian park to hold a spring fete of Flower Festival, enabling citizens enjoy the charm of traditional folk culture.

Working with Yunnan Han Chinese Clothing Culture Association, Jindian Park organized a great number of college students wearing elegant and graceful Han costume and holding a spring fete ceremony to promote the traditional custom of Flower Festival to visitors. According to the ritual rules, people need to worship the god of flowers, offer flower cake and burn incense to pray for a vibrant spring.

As a staff introduced, the Flower Festival is commemorating for the birth of flowers, and is normally celebrated between two Chinese solar terms, Insects Awaken and Vernal Equinox. As one of the most poetic festivals in ancient times, literati gathered drinking and versifying together to enjoy the beautiful spring scenery. It is the fourth year of celebrating the Flower Festival in Jindian, which is also the largest one so far.

“I can’t believe that the ancient custom is so interesting, and the Han clothing is classic and oriental,” a tourist from Xi’an said. Some parents thought that such activities should be held regularly so that children can learn about the traditional culture of our country.

Besides the ancient Flower Festival, Jindian Park also holds a Flower Fairy Festival until June 20. Citizens are invited into the park to enjoy folk songs and dance. Anyone in Han clothing or national costume can enter the park for free, and spend an unforgettable day in the colorful flowers.
