[InKunming--Kunming] The first unmanned supermarket named “Three Parallel Rivers” opens at Yunnan Nationalities Village in Kunming. Customers can entry the market by scanning the QR code through Wechat, purchase products and pay automatically. Moreover, they can also enjoy a hot pot with fresh ingredients at the kitchen beside the supermarket. It is said that the second unmanned supermarket will be settled in Guangfu residential area soon.

The supermarket mainly serves dozens of fresh ingredients, such as beef, vegetables, noodles, drinks and so on. When customers are done with shopping list and arrive at checkout area, the checkout equipment will automatically read the price and quantity of purchases and then create a bill. Customers just need to pay the bill by Wechat and leave without any intervention from staff.

“Nearly 40 customers come to the supermarket every day since it has been operated in the beginning of March. Some people are very curious and come to experience the different way of shopping. Drinks and a box of steamed stuffed bun are popular options.” Dong Keyan said, the owner of the supermarket. She pointed out that customers can buy foods and enjoy a great hot pot at the kitchen with the help of workers. If needed, there is a staff in the supermarket providing customers with service information.
