Security Standards upgraded in Kunming Changshui Airport

[InKunming--Kunming]  Kunming Changshui Airport is to upgrade security standards in late October in order to further guarantee passengers' safety, a source working on the airport says. Travellers had better check in two hours earlier.

Checkpoints will be established at departure places, where passengers' baggages will be checked by staff using explosive detention wands. Only after being checked can passengers enter departure lounges in the terminal building.

In fact, security checks towards baggages have been strengthened. Staff will not only check people’s carry-on baggages, but also randomly check their belts and shoes in the security inspection area, which may take about 15-30 minutes(30-60 minutes during peak hours.)

It is noteworthy that peak hours normally occur between 6:30 and 8:30, between 11:00 to 13:00, and between 16:00 and 18:30.

It is best for passengers to arrive at the airport two hours in advance of check-in. Those who do not need to consign their baggages could check in on self-service machines or online.

Tips for travellers to go through security inspection faster:

① Prepare ID Card(or passport) in advance.

② Do not bring too many carry-on baggages. (Please make sure your carry-on and checked baggages do not exceed the free baggage allowance.)

③ Do not pack prohibited items in your baggage. (Please note that liquid that is more than 100ml can not be brought on the plane. Local specialities such as honey, pickles, fermented bean curb, and mushroom are also not allowed to bring on the plane in carry-on baggage. If you want to bring items above, please put them in checked baggage.)

④ Note that lap-top, camera and power bank need to be examed separately. Please take those items out in advance.
