[InKunming--Kunming] Kunming Plateau International Half Marathon, hosted by Agricultural Bank of China, started at 8:30 am on September 10th in Kunming. Led by Olympic champion Chen Ding, more than 11,000 domestic and foreign runners took part in the competition.
Three kind of competition items were set, namely the Half Marathon, 8km Running and Family Running. Kenyan runner Kotut Jackson Kipkoech, finishing the race in 1 hour 6 minutes and 24 seconds, won the first prize of Half Marathon (men group). Zhang Deshun, who came from Yunnan Province, took the championship of women group with a record of 1 hour 16 minutes and 44 seconds.
Starting point of the competition was Yunnan Provincial Museum. Termini of 8km Running and Family Running respectively are Dianchi International Exhibition Center and No.1 Middle School of Guandu District. Half Marathon, passing by Guandu District NO.1 High School, Dianchi Exhibition Center and Dianchi Haigeng Park, came to an end at the square of Yunnan Ethnic Village.
Kunming Plateau International Half Marathon have been held annually for years. This time, the competition achieved great improvement on tournament standards and event experience. A brand new track was also utilized.
Indication signboards with ethnic minority characteristics and 18 atmosphere creating points were set along the racing track. Meanwhile, 1000 cheerleaders contributed to the competition, presenting beauty and enthusiasm of the “Spring City”.
Besides, services such as free shuttle bus, free sightseeing, and free public transportation were also provided to runners this year.
