Partial lunar eclipse and Perseids to occur in Kunming

[InKunming--Kunming]  A partial lunar eclipse and Perseids will be seen in August. Especially, Kunming citizens can find a proper place with the naked eyes to see a partial lunar eclipse phenomena tonight(August 7th).

Most of regions in China can see the whole process of partial lunar eclipse this time. Unfortunately, the area of the moon covered by the earth is pretty small. Consequently, the eclipse is likely to start at 23:48 while it begins to present normally at 4:53 am the next day, according to Su Hong, the chairman of Yunnan Amateur Astronomers Association.

In addition, the Perseid meteor shower can be observed during the dark night on August 12th to the wee hours of August 13rd. If there is no light pollution in the sky, the meteors shower could reach to 150 meteors per hour. Those who want to appreciate the unique scenery could go to countryside to observe after dinner.
