Yunnan to invest 200 billion yuan in building 105 characteristic towns

[InKunming--Yunnan] Yunnan characteristic towns investment promotion seminar was held in Kunming on July 16th. Altogether 6 characteristic towns signed contracts on the spot after governments of 16 prefectures and cities having made their special recommendations.

Yunnan has great advantages over developing characteristic towns. Basically, there are 3 reasons. Firstly, Yunnan is located at the intersection of “One Belt and One Road” Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Zone, which both are important national strategies. Significant strategic position lays the foundation for Yunnan to develop characteristic towns. Secondly, Yunnan has grasped every aspects of opportunities and strengthened all kinds of measures in recent years. Yunnan’s economy sees a prosperous developing trend. Thirdly, Yunnan has enriched ethnic cultures and marvelous natural landscapes that can not be replicated in other provinces. This kind of peculiarity provides core support element for developing characteristic towns.

According to the investment promotion seminar, Yunnan has planned to invest 200 billion yuan in building 105 characteristic towns in 3 years, including 5 international standard characteristic towns, 20 national first-class characteristic towns and 80 provincial first-class characteristic towns.

All the characteristic towns will start construction by September. Investment scale is going to achieve 20% of the total investment this year.

“Welcome enterprises to support and invest construction of characteristic towns in Yunnan.” In order to attract enterprises, 4 aspects of supportive policies have been released by Yunnan government. Altogether 30,000 mu lands will meet the land requirement, and 30 billion yuan fund will support enterprises in construction. After construction, enterprises will also receive reward money.
