[InKunming--Yunnan]  Sale volume of shoes in Yunnan province has reached 20 billion yuan yearly, news from Yunnan Commerce Chamber of Shoes Industry said yesterday. Shoes produced in Wenzhou, Guangzhou and many other places in China have been transferred into Luosiwan International Trade City in Kunming at first, and then been exported to Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and other South-eastern and Southern Asian countries.

"There are totally about 2,000 shoes brands that can be found in Yunnan shoes market," said by Chen Xiaosong, executive president of the Yunnan Commerce Chamber of Shoes Industry.

In the market, shoes coming from Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Chongqing, Sichuan provinces can be seen. Among them, shoes produced in Wenzhou city of Zhejiang province covers more than half part of the shoes market in Yunnan.

However, Yunnan brands are hardly seen among them. Shoes produced in Yunnan are limited by many factors, including technology, equipment, talent, craft, etc. Therefore, shoes of Yunnan brands are not easy to find their living space in the market.

Although shoes that are produced in Yunnan do not have many advantages, Chen Xiaosong still thought Yunnan local businessmen can find other characteristics to develop local shoes industry in the province.

Chen suggested that shoes can be embodied with Yunnan ethnic cultures. Things like peacock feather of Dai ethnic minority, ox head image of Wa ethnic minority, embroidery of Yi ethnic minority can be fully exerted in Yunnan shoes market.

If Yunnan businessmen grasp these characteristics mentioned above, they can also sell more shoes into South-east Asia and South Asia by virtue of Yunnan’s position as being a distributing center.
