Foreigner'cafe attacked by masked men in Xishuangbanna

Two masked men burst into Mekong Cafe in Jinghong City, Xishuangbannna early on the morning of April 20 and smashed up three glass doors, a fridge, a laptop and some imported wines and beers, with a total loss of over 5,000 yuan ($809).

“We were working at the cafe. Two people who wore stockings on their heads suddenly appeared and began smashing stuffs, a waiter surnamed Yang from the cafe told reporters.

Grey,owner of the coffee shop, said that he was talking on the phone with Yang and suddenly heard screaming with a banging noise coming from the phone, and then the phone was hanged up.

Earlier on April, Nuhui Bunyak, owner of Wangtianshu Restaurant in Jinghong City, was attacked and robbed at about 3:00 am. The day is also the Water-Sprinkling Festival in Xishuangbanna.

Nuhui Bunyak is from Holland. He went to a pub with friends after his restaurant closed. He was beaten on his way home from the pub. He woke up at about 5:00am and found himself lying on the street with a head bleed. His motorcycle, over 10,000 yuan ($1,618) in cash, passport and two Apple computers have gone.
