Up to now, lingering drought has affected 1.14 million mu (76,000 hectares) of farmland, accounting for 58.16 percent of the total planting areas in Kunming.
According to statistics from the city's agriculture department, about 300,000 mu (20,000 hectares) of crops and 120,000 mu (8,000 hectares) of vegetables have been parched.
In 2012, the area of affected crops reached 2.01 million mu (133,333.4 hectares), accounting for 88 percent of the city’s total planting areas.
