The closure ceremony of Houayxay Bridge, an important passage on Kunming-Bangkok International Road, is held today (Dec 12) in Houayxay, Laos.
Officials from China, Laos and Thailand attended the ceremony in which concreting of the bridge has been carried out by workers from three countries.
Kunming-Bangkok International Road, totaling 1,800 kilometers, connects Kunming, Yuxi, Pu'er, Jinghong, Bohan in China, Houayxay, Chiang Khong, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Ayuttaya and Bangkok in Thailand.
The road consists of three sections : 827 kilometers in China (from Kunming to Bohan), 247 kilometers in Laos(from Boten to Houayxay), and 813 kilometers in Thailand (from Chiang Khong to Bangkok).
The road is expected to be open to traffic early next year. (Editors:Lynn, Hysung)
