Kunming observed a partial solar eclipse early Monday morning.

A resident of Kunming photographed the spectacle at 6:40am. "The eclipse has ended at 7:15am," he said.

The solar eclipse was best viewed in Fujian and Guangdong provinces where people found the sun phasing into a golden ring.

The eclipse lasted for about four minutes in China, moving across the Pacific and ending on the west coast of the United States, China Daily reported.

Astronomy enthusiasts were advised to take precaution when watching the spectacle because the sunlight was intense and could hurt the eyes.

The next solar eclipse will not be seen in Shanghai until 2020, the experts said.
