Kunming and Kuching build sister city relations

Mayor of Kunming Zhang Zulin on Thursday met with the visiting delegation from Kuching, the fourth largest city of Malaysia in Kunming. A letter of intent was also signed for the two cities to establish sister-city relations.

Zhang expressed a warm welcome to the delegation. He said that Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province, is a well-known historic and cultural city and one of the top 10 tourist destinations in China.

He also said that Kunming will continue consolidate relations and friendship between the two cities, promoting development and cooperation in the economy, culture, education, technology, tourism, and etc.

Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, Housing and Tourism Minister of Sarawak, said that Kunming as the capital city of Yunnan province is impressive. He is also hoping to strengthen ties and cooperation between the two cities, especially gardening and floriculture.

After meeting, a letter of intent was signed for the two cities to establish sister-city relations.

Kuching, officially the City of Kuching, is the capital and most populous city of the East Malaysian state of Sarawak. It is the largest city on the island of Borneo, and the fourth largest city in Malaysia. It is abundant in mineral resources and tourism. (Editor: Ryan Li)
