South Asian experts learn to combat desertification in Dongchuan

Experts from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Kingdom of Bhutan visit Dongchuan District, Kunming and learn experience of combating desertification there.

The expert mission conducted visits along Dongge Road and Jiangjia Ditch which have been badly affected by the debris flow. They also learned about the deterioration control methods in Awang Town and Ziniu Village, referencing experience of ecological construction, deterioration control and desertification control.

A large number of lands destroyed by debris flow have been transformed into fertile farmlands today in Dongchuan. Drought-resisting capabilities of farmlands and grain outputs have been greatly improved. (Editors:Lynn, Minnie Mao)
