China-South Korea Cultural Exchange Center established in KM

A cultural exchange center between Yunnan University of China and Sookmyung Women’s University of South Korea has been established in Kunming. The establishing ceremony of was held in Yunnan University, November 6.

Director of Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department, Zhang Tianxin(张田欣) and the president of Sookmyung Women’s University, Han Youngyeong(韩荣实) attended the ceremony.

Zhang introduced the status of the two sides’ cooperation. Zhang expected the cooperation between the two universities would be enhanced through the establishment of the center.

According to Han Youngyeong, the two universities singed cooperation memorandums in September 2009. In March 2010, a cultural exchange center between the two was established in Korea, marking that the cooperation going up to a new stage.

The president of Yunnan University, He Tianchun (何天淳) said, the exchange center established in Yunnan University will promote the cooperation between Yunnan University and Sookmyung Women’s University.

Sookmyung Women’s University is the first private women university in South Korea. It has been established since nearly 100 years ago. It is a well-known woman university in Korea. The exchange center is expected to promote the cultural development in universities of Yunnan and South Korea. Meanwhile, the center will promote the development of Chinese in South Korea.

Founded in December 1922, Yunnan University is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Yunnan, China. Its main campuses are located in the provincial capital city of Kunming. It has been developed into the only "National Key University" in Yunnan province, having trained over 17,000 specialist professionals in various fields. Currently, Yunnan University is one of the "Project 211" universities in China authorized by the central government to be specially developed.(Editor:Tina He)
