Black Dragon Park bids for 2014 national wintersweet exhibition

Black Dragon Park (Heilongtan Park) has successfully bid for the "the 14th wintersweet exhibition China 2014" in Kunming. This is the third time for Kunming to hold the exhibition which means Kunming is the city where the most wintersweet exhibitions have been held.

Wintersweet exhibitions have been held in Black Dragon Park in 1995 and 2003, ten years later the even will be held in Kunming.

"This event is not only an exhibition of potted landscape of wintersweet, but also an international event for academic exchange," introduced by Hua Shan(华珊), senior landscape engineer in Black Dragon Park. The plum gardens were built in 1991 in the park. At present, the planting area reaches 520 mu with more than 11000 roots in over 150 species. As one of the biggest ten plum gardens in China, it is also the largest research base of wintersweet in the southwest of China. Black Dragon Park is well-known for over twenties wintersweet which are all 200 years old.

The wintersweet exhibition is held annually here. The exhibition this year will be held by the end of next month. Now the works are picking up the leaves of the wintersweet trees so as to guarantee the full blooms on time. (Editor:Lynn)
