Direct flights from Kunming to Europe expected

Chris, General Manager (China) of Kuoni Travel Holding Ltd.in Switzerland, said on the 2011 China International Travel Mart that he hopes to open more non-stop flights from Kunming to European countries to promote tourisms.

He said that Kunming's airport has no direct flights to European countries now. He suggested that more airlines could consider opening direct flight routes from Kunming to Europe after the Kunming Changshui International Airport is put into use.

The 2011 China International Travel Mart (CITM) ended in Kunming on October 30. It has been held successfully for twelve times.

More than 300 foreign merchants from 46countries and regions including the United States, Russia, Japan and Korea attended the event, and visited the new airport of Kunming, the new Luosiwan International Trade City as well as Guandu Old Town.

A general manager of travel agency from Korea said that I had been to Kunming for the first time in 2000. “Guandu Old Town gave me a new experience. I'm deeply in love with this place,” the manager said.

In addition, Yunnan’s hand embroidery attracted the attention of many foreign merchants. Several merchants from France have bought several pieces of embroidery, such as: shawls, scarves and towels.
