Baimei is a village near the mountain and by the river in Guangnan County, southwest China’s Yunnan Province. It is a must- go place for tourists heading to Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. You will pass a huge waterway of karst cave and find river valley, running water, green bamboo, waterwheel, farmland and cottages here when approaching to the exit of the cave.

The scenery on the way is just like two bright eyes of a beauty. With the high surrounding mountains, Bamei Village seems to be an exquisite and natural potted landscape as well as a verdurous pearl.

Baimei is the transliteration of “the cave in the forest” in Zhuang ethnic groups. Lifestyles hundreds years ago are still adopted among villagers who use wooden plow to plough, wooden waterwheel to irrigate, firewood to cook and sewage gas to light as lamp.

From the ancient time to present, the only connection for Bamei Village with the outside world is the cave at the entrance of the village. If provided with salt, villagers here can be completely isolated from the outside.
