Reporters learn from the Kunming Institute of Zoology, one of the 20 biological institutes under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) that 2 new species of fish have been discovered at the Lixian River Basin, which located at the junction of Jiangcheng County within Pu'er Prefecture and Lüchun County within Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture. And the newly-discovered 2 new species have been named as Lixian River Sinogastromyzon and Dakou (big mouth) Sinogastromyzon.
The discovery of 2 species does great significance to the research of fish diversity in Yunnan Province, at the same time lays a foundation for the research of evolution and classification of Balitora fishes. (Editor: Minnie Mao)
