Yunnan presented on 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation

[InKunming--Yunnan] A briefing meeting about the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation took place on April 24 in Beijing, where governors of Yunnan also attended for giving a presentation to foreign journalists.

Zong Guoying, deputy governor of Yunnan province, on behalf of Yunnan, firstly introduced general situation of Yunnan to all the foreign journalists on the site and then answered questions from these journalists.

Zong said that Yunnan has built up bilateral cooperation mechanism with five countries that are along the Mekong river, and successfully held the 1st China-South Asia Cooperation Forum in 2018.

Until now, Yunnan has built some highway sections that separately connect with Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar. China-Laos railway and China-Vietnam railway are also well underway. Meanwhile, 81 international and regional flight routes have been operated in Yunnan, too.

China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline,which starts from Kyaukpyu, Myanmar and ends in Yunnan, had normally transported energy between the two countries now. Some parts of electricity network that link Yunnan with Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar could work at the moment as well.

Furthermore, China provided communication services and public health support to its neighbouring countries. For example, Yunnan assigned doctors to Laos and Myanmar to help cure cataracts of local people in past years. 

Bilateral cooperation among Yunnan and Southeast and South Asian countries are also broadened to finance and trade field. Yunnan has constructed several pilot zones for RMB currency exchange with neighbouring countries. About 788 enterprises and organizations from Yunnan has invested in 58 countries and regions worldwide.

Related newest statics showed that 18,800 foreign students came to study in Yunnan. Chinese culture centers that aim for displaying Chinese traditional culture had been established in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Rangoon, Myanmar. 

Through the briefing meeting, Yunnan was splendidly presented to the foreign journalists and the world.
