Yunnan’s Honghe and Italy’s Langhe-Roero and Monferrato signed cooperation agreement

[InKunming--YunnanOn March 23, Italian time, China’s Director of National Cultural Heritage  Administration, Liu Yuzhu, signed a cooperation agreement with Italy’s Director of Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Alberto Bonisoli. 

China’s president Xi Jinping attended the signing ceremony in Italy. The agreement is about the promotion, development and experience sharing of UNESCO world heritage sites between Yunnan’s Honghe and Italy’s Langhe-Roero and Monferrato.

It is reported that Yunnan’s Honghe Hani terrace and Italy’s Langhe-Roero and Monferrato vineyard, respectively listed on UNESCO World Heritage List, have some similarities in historical and cultural parts.

Hani terrace, with an area of 16,600 hectares, mainly grow rice. It owns a complicated irrigation system that was created by local Hani people 1,300 years ago and has been inherited till now, very conductive to production and living of the locals at present.

As for Italy’s Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, the place, covering an area of 87,000 hectares, have grown grapes for centuries. Vineyards within the area are scattered with some ancient castles. People living there inherit vine-making technologies generation after generation.

Related operators of both the Yunnan and Langhe-Roero and Monferrato’s sides stated on the signing ceremony that they would strengthen cooperation under the agreement and support bilateral cooperation in cultural, creative tourism, agricultural, trade, and sustainable development fields in the next step.
