A taste of spring, edible potherb goes popular on Yunanese’s dining table

After the Spring Festival holiday, a lot of wild edible vegetables you may never heard about have come on the market. Chinese mahogany, common broom, fiddlehead, walnut flower, shepherd’s purse and other fresh wild veggies smelled with a breath of spring attract people to select and buy.

In the mind of most Yunnan people, spring is the best time to eat seasonal potherb. The vendor of a vegetable stall expressed that there were a growing number of people buying potherb. Two to three hundred kilograms of potherb could be sold out a day.

Although the price of these potherb and flowers is not cheap, many Kunming people still like to buy this taste of spring. There are various cooking methods and the simplest way is to cook with eggs. Stir-fried Chinese mahogany and eggs, an extremely unique flavor of spring, is one of the most welcome and appetizing dishes for Yunnan people during spring.

However, it is necessary to remind the public that do not eat unknown potherb though they are delicious. Some of them are poisonous. As well, do not eat too much potherb, because it may cause a diarrhea.
