2019 Spring Festival Gala highlights China-Myanmar friendship

[InKunming--Sister CitiesThemed Celebration of China-Myanmar Friendship, the 2019 Spring Festival Gala premiered in Myanmar’s Yangon on the evening of January 19.

This gala, involved artists from two countries, is a transnational art communication, depicting the two countries' deep "paukphaw" ("fraternal" in the Myanmar language) friendship. This is the first time that the transnational gala held in Myanmar. It not only carried the time-honored friendship between China and Myanmar, but also conveyed the wish of Chinese people to build closer ties between the two countries.

Songs from Yunnan and Burmese connected each other, which made the audience fascinated. The famous Yunnan dance, Spirit of Peacock, and Burmese traditional puppet dance drew warm applause. The story of children with congenital heart disease in Myanmar being treated by doctors in Yunnan moved many viewers to tears. The Chinese New Year wishes expressed the deep love of overseas Chinese in Myanmar, and showed their determination to build a bridge of friendship between the two countries.

“This is the best gala ever in Myanmar!” “The performance corresponded with ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative, and sang the voice of everyone.” “We were recalling the beautiful and moving moments in the gala.” Representatives of Myanmar spoke highly of the gala. A reporter from Myanmar’s Sky Net TV station, said that although he could not be present at the scene because of other work, he was surprised by the video footage shot by his friend.

Spirit of Peacock is my favorite show. This is the best wishes from the neighbors.” Burmese businessman has many Chinese partners and travels around China every year. He said with excitement that the event will allow Burmese people to know more about China and Yunnan, and it will also mark a higher level of exchanges between China and Myanmar.
